Owen Matthews

  • I am Owen Matthews and am currently Principal Oboe in the Bendigo Symphony Orchestra.

    I enjoy playing all genres of classical music, I have performed with other orchestras on oboe & cor anglais including the Melbourne Youth Orchestra, Victorian Youth Symphony Orchestra, Melbourne Sinfonia, The Grainger Wind Symphony, The Victorian College of the Arts Symphony Orchestra & Stonnington Symphony. I also particularly enjoyed playing with the Melbourne University 'reading orchestra' while at university, which at that time was taken by the conductor John Hopkins who was the founding conductor of the BSO! 

    I studied music through high school, I began undergraduate studies in Music Performance at the Victorian College of the Arts, however, discovered this was not my pathway! I moved on to my current work coaching ice skating, check me out  owenskatercoach.com @owenskatercoach
